Amphitrite is a sailing ship, referred to as a seagoing yacht or schooner, with a motor-sailing drive from the second half of the 19th century. The presented unit was constructed in the Camper and Nicholson plant. Its launch took place in 1887 in the city of Gosport in Great Britain. The total length of the ship was 37 meters, with a width of about 6 meters and a draft of up to about 4 meters. In the course of its very long service, Amphitrite often changed owners, but also the names and the flag under which it sailed. Its first owner was Alexander McGregor, who in 1888 joined the British Royal Yacht Squadron on this vessel. In the 1990s, the unit competed in many regattas. In 1900 A. Spncer Hitchman became the owner of the unit and the name of the unit changed to Dolores. The unit happily survived both world wars, and in the mid-1960s it received completely new engines (two Volvo Penta engines, 95 HP each). Currently, the unit, under the original name of Amphitrite, flies the German flag as part of the organization Clipper Deutsches Jugendwerk zur See. It is fairly commonly accepted that Amphitrite is currently probably the oldest floating wooden seagoing yacht in the world!
