Hans-Ulrich Rudel was born in 1916 and died in 1982. He was the most famous German bomber and attack aircraft pilot, considered the most effective Luftwaffe tank destroyer pilot, but also a fighter ace. Hans-Ulrich Rudel joined the German Air Force in 1936, at the age of 20. During the September campaign in 1939, he flew as an observation machine pilot, which he also carried out in 1940. At the beginning of 1941, he started training a Ju-87 Stukas dive bomber pilot and, as a pilot of such a machine, he started Operation Barbarossa, i.e. the German invasion of the USSR on June 22, 1941. During World War II, while flying the Ju-87, its later modification Ju-87 G-2, as well as the specialized fighter-bomber variants Fw-190 A and D, he destroyed 519 enemy tanks (mainly Soviet ones). He is also credited with destroying approximately 150 artillery fire stations and sinking or seriously damaging four ships! It is assumed that he made 2,530 sorties and was shot down as many as 32 times. Nike concealed his admiration for Adolf Hitler and after 1945 he fled from Germany to South America. He returned to West Germany in 1953.
