Antoine-Charles-Louis de Lasalle was born in May 1775 and died in July 1809. He was a general of the cavalry of the French army during the Napoleonic Wars (1799-1815). The future general joined the army in 1786, at the age of only 11. Five years later, after completing his military education, he was awarded the rank of second lieutenant and joined the 24th Cavalry Regiment. He took part in the wars of revolutionary France (1792-1799), from 1796 he served in the Italian Army commanded by General Bonaparte. He took part in the Italian campaign and the expedition to Egypt (1797-1799). Even then, he distinguished himself as a highly skilled cavalry officer - especially light cavalry. In 1804 he was awarded the Legion of Honor, and already in 1805, at the age of 30, the rank of brigadier general. He took a very active part in the campaigns against Prussia and Russia in the years 1806-1807. In 1808 he was instrumental in the victory at the Battle of Medina del Rio Seco. He died at the age of 34 at the Battle of Wagram in 1809. He is considered one of the most famous French cavalrymen of the Napoleonic era and a very talented light cavalry officer. As the legend says, he was said to have said that "Hussar, who lived to be thirty, is an ordinary decoder!".
