Extra EA-300 is a modern, German aerobatic aircraft in the low wing configuration, with the classic - fixed landing gear. The prototype flight took place in 1988. The plane, in its basic version, is 6.9 meters long with a wingspan of 8 meters. The drive is provided by a single Lycoming AEIO-540 engine with 300 HP. The maximum speed reaches 410 km / h, with a climb speed of 16 m / s. The empty weight of the aircraft is 672 kilograms. The EA-300 aircraft was developed at the Extra Flugzeugbau aviation plant based on the design of the EA-230 machine. Compared to its predecessor, the new plane received an elongated fuselage, wings with a larger span made of, among others, composite materials, not only wood, and a different engine with much greater maximum power. In the course of production, many versions of this successful aerobatic aircraft were created, including: EA-300 (basic version), EA-300S (1-seat version, with a reduced wingspan), EA-300L (version with a shortened fuselage and wingspan, reduced to 7.3 meters) or EA-300LP (aircraft with reduced curb weight). It is worth noting that the Extra EA-300 aircraft is used by both civilian and, to a small extent, also military users.
