The Convair CV-340 is an American low-wing aircraft from the Cold War period. The prototype's flight took place in 1951, and the machine entered service two years later - in 1953. The drive was provided by two Pratt and Whitney R-2800-CB16 . The length of the aircraft was approximately 24 meters with a wingspan of approximately 29 meters. The maximum speed slightly exceeded 500 km / h, and the flight range oscillated around 1,900 kilometers. The CV-340 model was developed by Convair for the needs of United Airlines and KLM. In essence, it was a modernized version of the CV-240 aircraft, and compared to the prototype, it differed primarily in the use of slightly different engines and the extension of the fuselage by about 1.5 meters. The wingspan was also slightly increased. On the one hand, these changes led to an increase in the number of passengers transported to 44 people, while maintaining almost unchanged flight and pilot properties. It is worth adding that the CV-340 also turned out to be very reliable and durable. They remained in service until the mid-1960s.
