The Renault AG1 was a French passenger car from the beginning of the 20th century. The first copies of this vehicle went on sale in 1907. The drive was provided by a single, 2-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1.2 liters and a maximum power of 10-12 HP. The total length of the cart was 3.75 meters, with a width of 1.55 meters. The maximum speed was around 45 km / h. Renault AG1 was created as a relatively cheap and easy to manufacture passenger car with an open driver's cabin and a closed passenger cabin that could accommodate two people. The vehicle in the years 1908-1914 became the most popular car among Parisian taxi drivers, who during this period purchased about 2,000 cars of this type. The Renault AG1 went down in the history of World War I in early September 1914, just before the Battle of the Marne. At that time, all Parisian taxis of this type were commandeered by the French army and used to transfer the soldiers of the 103rd and 104th infantry regiments from the city almost directly to the front line. Although they only deployed around 3,000 soldiers, they quickly became a symbol of the determination of French society to fight the German invaders. They also began to bear the nickname "Taxi from the Marne" (fr. Taxi de la Marne).
