Junkers D.1 (J9) is a German, single-engine fighter in the low wing configuration with a classic tail from the First World War. It was the first plane in the world to be built entirely of duralumin. Various engines were used as the drive, for example Mercedes D.IIIa, Benz Bz.IIIau or BMW IIIa. The last of them probably allowed to reach the maximum speed of 240 km / h. Despite the enormous innovation of the design, the plane was not met with favor by the military authorities of the Second Reich, or with German pilots. It was difficult to produce and very time-consuming, and the pilots considered it too little maneuvering. Therefore, it was widely used as a reconnaissance aircraft. In total, about 30 machines of this type were built, which were delivered to Flanders. Technical data: length: 7.25m, wingspan: 9m, height: 2.6m, maximum speed: 240km / h, climb speed: 3.5m / s, maximum ceiling 6000m, armament: fixed - 2 machine guns cal.7 , 92mm.
