The Fokker D.VIII / EV is a German mixed high-wing fighter ("umbrella") from the end of the First World War. The constructor of the machine was Reinhold Platz, and the first flight took place in May 1918. The planes entered the line in July of the same year. The prototypes marked as V.26 and V.28 used different engines: Oberursel UR.III (145HP) and Goebel Goe.III (160HP). However, as both engines were not ready for mass production in the summer of 1918, the 110HP Oberursel UR.II engine was used on the series-built Foker D.VIII. The plane had a great rate of climb and great maneuverability. However, the machine did not enter mass use due to manufacturing errors and faults. 381 aircraft were produced by the end of the war, but only 85 entered the front line. It is worth noting that the Fokker D.VIII was used by the Polish army during the Polish-Soviet war. The first air victory for the Polish Air Force was also achieved there. Technical data: length: 5.86 m, wingspan: 8.34 m, height: 2.6 m, maximum speed: 204 km / h, climb speed: 8.3 m / s, maximum ceiling 6000 m, armament: fixed-two MG08 machine guns cal.7.92mm.
