The 2S34 Hosta is a modern Russian tracked howitzer / self-propelled mortar. Vehicles of this type entered service in 2012. The armament consists of a 120 mm mortar and a single 7.62 mm machine gun. The operating range is up to 500 kilometers. It is estimated that there are approximately 30 vehicles of this type in the line of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. The 2S34 Host vehicle is a far-reaching development of the 2S1 Goździk self-propelled howitzer, developed in the 1970s. Although both vehicles are based on the same hull and similar suspension, the 2S34 Hosta has a completely new turret and completely different armament - the gun 2A80-1 that can act as both a howitzer and a mortar, which also has a semi-automatic loading system. This cannon has a higher rate of fire and can fire a larger range of ammunition. The 2S34 Hosta also has a completely new FCC (Fire Control System). It is worth adding that the 2S34 Hosta performs well in the field and has amphibious abilities. It can also be transported by air by machines such as An-12 or Ił-76.
