The Marjaniemi lighthouse is located in Finland, on the island of Hailuoto, which in turn is located in the waters of the Bothnian Bay in its extreme northern part. The lighthouse is also located approximately 50 kilometers from the city of Oulu. The building was designed by the Finnish architect Axel Hampus Dalstrom, and work on it began in 1871, and was put into use a year later. The lighthouse was built of stone in the form of a three-tier, round tower. In 1962, the Marjaniemi lighthouse was automated. At present, the total height of the lighthouse is 25 meters. The range of its white light is 19 nautical miles (NM), or about 35 kilometers. It is worth adding that a new building was erected on the site of the former building and the place of residence of the lighthouse keeper, which now functions as a hotel.
