The Dornbusch lighthouse was built in 1888. At present, it is located in Germany, on the Baltic Sea coast, on the island of Hiddensee, in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Construction works on this lighthouse started in 1887, and soon afterwards the lighthouse was ready for use. Fortunately, it survived World War I, and was rebuilt and modernized in 1927-1929. The modernization concerned the addition of reinforced concrete coatings and the overall strengthening of the entire structure. At present, the total height of the lighthouse is 28 meters, and the observation deck for tourists is at a height of 20 meters. It was released in its present form in 1994. Its range of white light is 24.9 nautical miles (NM), or approximately 46 kilometers, and the range of red light is 21.3 nautical miles (NM), or approximately 39.4 kilometers. Currently, the light projected by the lantern is generated by a halogen bulb. It is worth adding that the Dornbusch lighthouse appeared twice on German postage stamps.
