J.M.S.D.F. DD YUDACHI

The Yudachi (DD-103) is a modern Japanese destroyer, the keel of which was laid in 1996, launched in August 1997, and commissioned in 1999. The total length of the ship is 151 meters and 17.4 meters wide. Full displacement is up to 6,200 tons and maximum speed is up to 30 knots. The destroyer's armament includes: a single 76 mm gun, two 20 mm Vulcan Phalanx sets, two Type 90 4-rail rocket launchers, or one Mk.41 and Mk.48 16-rail VLS rocket launcher each. . Ships of this class were among the first in the Japanese Naval Self-Defense Forces (JSDF), which from the very beginning were designed as multi-role destroyers, designed to operate in larger groups of ships - especially in cooperation with missile destroyers. Murasame-class ships were also developed to replace Hatsuyuki and Asagiri-class ships in the line. Compared to the first of these classes, the Murasame type units, including the Yudachi, differ primarily in size and displacement, have a completely differently designed hull, but also much greater combat capabilities thanks to the use of VLS launchers and much more modern electronic equipment.
