The UB-1 type ships were German submarines from the First World War, the production of which lasted between 1914 and 1915. The length of this type of units was 28.1 m, width 3.2 m, and the underwater displacement was approx. 140 tons. The maximum speed of UB-1 ships on the surface was up to 6.5 knots, and the maximum underwater speed - from 5 to 5.5 knots. The main armament was only two 450 mm torpedo tubes. The secondary armament is a single 8mm machine gun. A total of 20 ships of this type were built, three of which went to the Austro-Hungarian Navy, and one was handed over to Bulgaria. The UB-1 type ships were among the first more widely produced submarines for the Kaiserliche Marine during World War I. They were characterized by a relatively simple structure and were designed to operate primarily in coastal waters. Due to their small size, it was possible to transport units of this type by rail. In 1918, four units of this type (UB-10, UB-12, UB-16 and UB-17) were converted into underwater mines. UB-1 units operated mainly in the North Sea and the Adriatic Sea.
