The Mercedes-Benz G3 was a German military truck from the interwar period and World War II. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in the mid-1920s, and serial production started in 1928. The basic version was 6 meters long, 2.45 meters high and 2.1 meters wide. The drive was provided by a 6-cylinder engine with a capacity of 3.7 liters and a power of 68 HP. The Mercedes-Benz G3 was developed for the Reichswehr, which at the end of the 1920s aimed to acquire a new truck with a capacity of 1.5 tons with a 6x4 drive. It entered service in 1928, and a year later its modernized version, the G3a, was introduced. It is worth adding that in the 1930s, the Mercedes-Benz LG3000 car was developed for the needs of the Wehrmacht, the construction of which was a de facto development of the G3 / G3a car. Both models differed primarily in the use of different power units - the first used a gasoline engine, the second diesel - as well as dimensions. Both models were widely used by the German armed forces in the period 1939-1945 in many specialized variants, for example as a command car (Kfz.77).
