The Toyota Sports 800 (other names: UP15 or Yotahachi) is a Japanese sports passenger car that was first presented to the public as a concept car in 1962 at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its serial production started three years later and lasted only until 1969 - only 351 examples of this vehicle were made, along with prototypes. The Sports 800 model was developed and put into production in order to enter the domestic market of small sports cars already created by Datsun Fairlady and Daihatsu Compagno. The main designer of the new vehicle was Tatsuo Hasegawa - the same one who co-created the Corolla model. The Toyota Sports 800 was powered by a small engine with a capacity of only 790 cm3, but generating 45 HP. Considering the low weight of the car (580 kilograms), it allowed for quite decent performance. In the course of production, it was offered in two body styles: as a 2-door coupe and a 2-door roadster.
