T2V-1 SEASTAR

The Lockheed T2V Seastar is an American, on-board training and training aircraft from the post-war period. A prototype flight took place in 1953, and the machine entered the line in 1957. About 150 aircraft of this type were built in the course of production. The overall length of this aircraft was 11.75 meters with a wingspan of 13.06 meters. The drive was provided by a single Allison J-33-A-24 turbojet engine with a thrust of 27.2 kN. The maximum speed was around 930 km / h. The plane did not have permanent on-board weapons. The T2V Seastar model was developed for the needs of the US Navy as a far-reaching extension of the Lockheed T-33 aircraft. Compared to its progenitor, T2V Seastar differed in many elements. First of all, it was powered by a slightly different engine, had a much more extensive avionics, had a redesigned and reinforced hull, reinforced undercarriage and was generally adapted to operate from aircraft carriers. The Lockheed T2V Seastar was used by the US Navy until the 1970s when it was replaced by the North American T-2 Buckeye.
