The DFS Olympia (another name: DFS Meise) is a German single-seater sports and performance glider in a high wing configuration. The flight of the prototype took place in 1939. Subsequent serial production - also from the post-war period - led to the creation of over 1,600 aircraft of this type. DFS Olympia was developed by Eng. Hans Jacobs at the Deutsche Forschungsanstalt fur Segelflug (DSF for short), intended to participate in the Olympic Games planned for 1940 in Helsinki. Due to the outbreak of the war, the Olympic Games did not take place, but in 1940 the mass production of the DFS Olympia glider began, which took place not only in Germany, but also in the countries of occupied Europe. The glider was characterized by good flight and handling characteristics as well as a relatively solid structure. This meant that it was also produced after 1945, also under license. For example, in France this glider was produced as the Nord 2000.
