Martin AM Mauler was an American low-wing attack aircraft from the Second World War and the post-war period. A prototype flight took place in 1944, and the machine entered the line in 1948. The drive was provided by a single engine Pratt and Whitney R-4360-4 Wasp Major with 3000 hp. The on-board armament consisted of four 20 mm cannons. The machine could also carry a load of bombs or torpedoes weighing up to approx. 2,720 kilograms. Martin AM Mauler was created in connection with the US Navy's desire to acquire one-man bomber-torpedo planes that would replace the existing reconnaissance and bomber planes in the line. It was planned that the new planes would be used primarily in the Pacific War, but despite the flight's flight in August 1944, its introduction to the line was delayed and Martin AM Mauler did not take part in World War II. In the course of operation, the machine showed problems with the hull stiffness, but the manufacturer remedied the problem relatively quickly. Despite the general flattering opinions of the pilots, the Martin AM Mauler was withdrawn from the line as early as 1953. The main reason for this decision was the introduction of the Douglas A-1 Skyraider into service, which, with almost the same performance and parameters, was much cheaper and easier to operate.
