The Airspeed Envoy was a British low-wing, mixed-use, British passenger and communication aircraft with a retractable landing gear from the Second World War. The drive was usually provided by two motors Armstrong-Siddeley Cheetah IX with 350 HP each. The prototype flight took place in 1934. In the course of serial production, which lasted in the years 1934-1939, 52 copies of this aircraft were produced. The Airspeed Envoy was created as a far-reaching development of the AS.5 Courier aircraft. It differed from its predecessor in dimensions, hull structure and the engines used. The machine was characterized by good performance, low failure rate and a decent range. It could also take up to 8 passengers on board. These elements meant that Airspeed Envoy won many foreign customers. It was sold, among others, to Australia, Czechoslovakia, France and Japan. At the outbreak of World War II, the very successful Airspeed Oxford training plane was created based on the structure of this aircraft. The last Airspeed Envoy was discontinued in 1951.
