The North American XB-70 Valkyrie (Valkyrie) is an American, six-engine, all-metal duck-shaped experimental aircraft. Only two prototypes of this unusual machine were built. The first one took off in September 1964, and the second one in July 1965. The XB-70 was created to test the possibility of creating a stratospheric bomber capable of flying at a speed of 3Ma. It was planned to start serial construction under the designation B-70, but in the end the project never got past the prototype stage. This was due, firstly, to the development of nuclear-warhead ballistic missiles and, secondly, to the massive development of the Soviet anti-aircraft defense system. Specifications: length: 57.6m, wingspan: 32m, height: 9.1m, maximum speed: 3.1Ma, practical ceiling: 23500m, maximum range: 6900km.
