The Dornier Do 28 is a German multi-role, metal-structure high-wing aircraft. The drive is provided by two Avro-Lycoming IO-540A engines with a capacity of 290 HP. A prototype flight took place in 1959, and serial production began shortly after. Until 28 to this day (2017), it remains in the line. The Dornier Do 28 was created as a far-reaching development of the Do 27 aircraft. First of all, it became a twin-engine aircraft from a single engine. It is worth noting that in the original version, the engines were placed in nacelles, located on special pylons on the side of the fuselage. The hull and the structure of the entire machine were also strengthened. The machine, like the Do 27, had the ability to shorten take-off and landing (STOL) and had a very low minimum speed. Two main development versions were created in the course of serial production. The first one (marked as A / B) could carry up to six passengers and was primarily used by the Bundeswehr. The second version (Do 28 D Skyservant) was extended, it could carry up to 13 passengers, the shape of the fuselage (especially its front) was changed, the wing area was increased and the already good aerodynamic properties were significantly improved. This version entered service primarily with the German armed forces, but was also exported to, among others, Angola, Cameroon, Croatia and Greece.
