The Letov S-20 was a Czechoslovak fighter plane in the interwar period in a biplane configuration. The drive was provided - in the first production batch - by a single motor Hispano-Suiza 8FB 260 hp. The prototype flight took place in 1925. In total, about 120 aircraft of this type were built. The deck armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns. The Letov S-20 was commissioned by the Czechoslovak Air Force as a complement to the fighter planes produced by Avia. It was a conventional plane for those times, resembling the French SPAD machines in many solutions. Despite the conservative design, the Letov S-20 was a successful aircraft, characterized above all by a good top speed. In the course of serial production, several versions of this aircraft were created, including: S-20 (fighter version), S-20M (basic fighter version with improved aerodynamics) or S-20L (fighter version, exported to Lithuania). A training version was also created (S-21), but it did not enter mass production.
