Polish 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade Gen. Stanisław Maczek (abbreviated: 10 BKP) was officially formed in 1995 on the basis of the 120 Hussar Mechanized Regiment. In 2001, the Brigade was excluded from the 11th Armored Cavalry Division and subordinated to the command of the 2nd Mechanized Corps, but in 2004 it returned to the 11th Lubuska Armored Cavalry Division. In 2004 and 2012, the position of the brigade changed. In 2009, the brigade consisted of, among others, a command and staff sub-unit, a command battalion, two tank battalions, a mechanized infantry battalion, a self-propelled artillery squadron, an anti-aircraft squadron and other support units. The main striking force of the brigade is the German Leopard 2A4 tanks, and in addition - the 2S1 Goździk self-propelled guns or the ZSU-23-4 Shilka self-propelled AA sets, of Soviet origin. A battalion of approximately 300 officers and soldiers was formed from the brigade, which went on a mission to Iraq in 2003. The current commander of the unit is a certified colonel Artur Pikoń.
