Martin JRM Mars was an American military flying boat from World War II and the beginning of the Cold War. The machine was built in a high-wing configuration and was characterized by a full metal structure. The flight of the prototype took place in 1942, and a short series production was carried out in the years 1946-1947. In total, only seven machines of this type were built! The drive was provided by four Wright R-3350 engines with a power of 2500 HP each. The machine was 35.74 meters long with a wingspan of 61 meters. The Martin JRM Mars plane was created for the needs of the US Navy as a long-range transport flying boat. In essence, it was a modernized version of the prototype Martin machine XPB2M-1R, entered service in November 1943. Initially, it was planned to acquire 20 machines of this type, but due to the imminent end of hostilities, the order was reduced. Stock Martin JRM were primarily used to transport soldiers over long distances and operated primarily in the Pacific. After the end of service, four of them were converted into fire planes
