The Douglas AD-4 Skyraider was an American, all-purpose, low-wing, all-metal multi-role, metal structure aircraft from the post-war period. The drive was provided by a single engine Wright R-3350-26WA with a maximum power of 2,700 hp . Approximately 1,200-1300 aircraft of this type were built in the course of serial production. The on-board armament - in the basic version - consisted of four 20 mm AN / M3 cannons. Douglas AD-4 Skyraider was created as a far-reaching development of the A-1 Skyraider and is sometimes counted as one of its development versions. The AD-4 was developed using the lessons learned from the Korean War (1950-1953). First of all, the aircraft uses a new power unit, the on-board armament has been strengthened and the cockpit cover has been strengthened. Based on the basic version marked as AD-4, many specialized variants were created, for example: AD-4N (three-man night bomber), AD-4S (anti-submarine aircraft), AD-4B (version adapted to tactical nuclear attacks) or AD-4S (early warning version). Machines in the latter version were exported to Great Britain.
