The Eurocopter AS565 Panther is a modern all-metal assault and multipurpose helicopter with a retractable landing gear in a classic layout with a single main rotor and a tail-beam propeller in a fenestron configuration. The drive is provided by two motors Turbomeca Arriel 2C with 852 hp each. The first prototype flew in February 1984, and serial production started in the same year and is still ongoing. The AS565 Panther was developed as a far-reaching expansion of the Eurocopter AS365N Dauphin helicopter. The main changes involved the use of much more powerful engines, strengthening the entire structure and introducing richer avionics adapted to the needs of military users. In addition, there have been many smaller modernizations. Finally, a successful machine was created - one of the best medium-sized helicopters in the world - with considerable modernization potential. Until now, many development versions of this helicopter have been created, such as: AS565 UA (military reconnaissance version), AS565 UB (transport version), AS565 AB (assault version) or AS565 MB (sea transport and rescue version). AS565 helicopters have been or are used by several foreign customers, including: Brazil, Bulgaria, Greece and Israel.
