The Supacat Jackal is a modern British reconnaissance vehicle. The first prototypes were built at the beginning of the 21st century, and the car entered line service with the British Army in 2008. In total, about 600 examples of this vehicle have been built so far. The basic version of Supacat Jackal is powered by an engine Cummins ISBE Euro3 with 185hp. The vehicle is armed with a single 7.62mm L7A2 machine gun and a single 12.7mm L7A1 machine gun or a 40mm GMU automatic grenade launcher. The Supacat Jackal was created in response to the British Army's demand for a new wheeled reconnaissance vehicle at the beginning of the 21st century. When designing the Jackal car, particular emphasis was placed on the strongest possible armament with small-caliber weapons, high mobility and maneuverability. So far, two versions of this vehicle have been created, the first - Jackal 1 - has poor armor and is the first production series. The second version - Jackal 2 - has a reinforced chassis, providing better protection against mine explosions and the so-called fugasami, a more powerful engine and an increased crew compartment. Jackal vehicles were used in combat in Afghanistan. They also did not reach any foreign recipients - their only user is the British Army.
