The SU-152 is a Soviet self-propelled gun (tank destroyer) from the Second World War. The first prototypes of these cars appeared in 1943, and in the same year the production of serine took place, which led to the creation of about 700 cars of this type. The combat weight of the vehicle was 45.5 tons. It was armed with a single 152mm ML-20S cannon howitzer. The drive was provided by a single 600 HP W-2K engine. Work on the SU-152 began de facto in mid-1942 and it was initially assumed that it would be intended primarily for enemy fortifications. However, still at the stage of research and development, it was decided that the new vehicle would also be used to destroy new, heavily armored German tanks and self-propelled guns. Design works were carried out in offices in Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk. The new vehicles entered production very quickly, but were withdrawn from it just as quickly in favor of the very similar, but slightly more universal ISU-152. The cars made their debut in the fighting on the Eastern Front in the first half of 1943, and they were used on a larger scale during the fighting near Kursk in July 1943 to fight the Panther and Tiger tanks. It was also then that the vehicle was nicknamed "Animal Slayer" or "Beast Slayer". The SU-152 vehicles were used on a small scale in the Polish Army in 1945-1949 for training purposes.
