Quad Gun Trailer M55 is an American anti-aircraft weapon from World War II and the post-war period. The weapon entered service in 1943. The total weight of the weapon was 1087 kilograms. The initial velocity of the projectile fired from this weapon was up to 890 m / s, and the maximum shot range was around 4,500 meters. The Quad Gun Trailer M55 was developed by WL Maxson Corporation to replace the M33 gun line. The M55 Quad Gun Trailer is a combination of the M45 Quadmount fire post and the M20 towed trailer. As a small arms, the M55 used four M2 Browning 12.7 mm machine guns. Originally, it was assumed that the weapon would be used to provide air defense to own troops at short and very short ranges, but during the service the M55 was used very often to fire, for example, on enemy infantry. The weapon was widely used during World War II, but also during the Korean War (1950-1953) and the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975).
