Tiny Tim was an American short-range air-to-surface missile of the Second World War period. Its production began in 1944, and it was used by the US armed forces in 1944-1951. Tiny Tim was a missile with a range of 1,500 meters, capable of carrying a warhead weighing up to 67 kg with a total curb weight of 569 kg. Tiny Tim was commissioned by the US Navy, which asked for an unguided missile capable of destroying enemy coastal fortifications. Perhaps the missile was originally developed also against surface targets, but was not used in this way during World War II. The main user of the missile was the US Navy deck aviation and the Marine Corps. Tiny Tim was used on a larger scale in the Battle of Okinawa in 1945 and in the first phase of the Korean War (1950-1953). Missiles of this type could be carried by such planes as the F4U Corsair, F6F Hellcat or TBM Avenger.
