The Aero L-159 Alca is a modern Czech light training and combat aircraft. The prototype flight took place in 1997. In 2000, the machine entered the line in the Czech Air Force and remains in it today. In total, about 70 serial copies of this aircraft were made. The drive is provided by a single motor Honeywell F-124-GA-100 . The plane's top speed is 960 km / h. The machine has no on-board armament. The unit cost of the aircraft is estimated at $ 9.5 million (USD). Work on the L-159 Alca began at Aero Vodochody in 1992, in cooperation with Boeing. Their goal was to create a successor to the L-39 Albatros machines used in the Czech aviation. After successful completion of research and development, the L-159 was put into production, in the course of which two basic development versions of this aircraft were created: L-159A (combat version, with a single cabin), L-159T-1 (two-seater training and training version) . The L-159 is currently used by the air forces of the Czech Republic and Iraq. In the colors of the latter country, she fought against the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) in 2016-2017.
