Cannon FK 96 nA caliber 77 mm was a German field gun from the beginning of the 20th century and World War I. The gun entered service shortly after 1904. The initial velocity of the high-impact shell fired from this gun was up to 465 m / s, with a maximum range of about 6,000 meters. Cannon FK 96 nA was developed as a kind of German response to the revolutionary French gun Canon de 75 Mle 1897 and was a very far-reaching modification of the gun FK 96 entered service in 1896. Compared to its predecessor, it had a completely new handguard, shield, slide, but most of all - a retractor, which definitely improved its rate of fire. This cannon was the main German field cannon at the beginning of the First World War. As it was not adapted to the realities of the trench war, in 1916 it was replaced with the FK16 cannon. Still, many guns of this type were in service in the German army, and many survived until the end of World War I.
