The Toyota MR2 (another name: Toyota MR-S) is a Japanese sports passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1983 as a concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show. Its serial production started a year later (1984) and lasted until 2007. It was concentrated mainly in the plants in the city of Sagamihara in Japan. The MR2 model was developed and put into production in order to expand Toyota's commercial offer, as well as increase its share in the sports car segment. In the course of designing the MR2, a lot of emphasis was placed on the lowest possible aerodynamic drag, attractive design with retractable headlamps fashionable in the 1980s, as well as the lowest possible operating costs and low fuel consumption. In addition, the MR2 was characterized by good performance, good suspension and braking system. Overall, it was a successful vehicle that lived to see its three generations. They offered engines with a capacity of 1.5 to 2.2 liters as a drive, mating with 4-, 5- or 6-speed gearboxes. The car was offered primarily as a 2-door coupe, and in the last production series (designation: W30), produced in 1999-2007, as a 2-door convertible.
