DELTA II 7925H

Delta II is a modern American space launch rocket. The total length of the Delta II 7000 rocket was 38.1 meters with a diameter of 2.44 meters. The total weight was up to 286 tons. The rocket was able to carry a payload of up to 5,089 kilograms into a low orbit around the Earth. Its first launch took place in November 1990. To date, 136 rocket launches have taken place, of which 134 have been successful. The Delta II rocket was designed and built by McDonnell-Douglas, which is now part of the Boeing Company. In the course of the production and operation so far, two main versions of the Delta II rocket have been developed: 6000 and 7000. The first one was operated in the years 1989-1992 and was able to carry loads weighing not more than 3,900-4,000 kilograms to a low Earth orbit. Relatively quickly, this version was improved through the use of more powerful engines, better afterburners or a much better navigation system - this is how the Delta II 7000 rocket was created, which is still used today. Its main task is to bring satellites into orbit - especially communication satellites. In the period 2003-2011, Delta II Heavy rockets were also used, with even more powerful afterburners and auxiliary engines. It was this type of rocket in the 7925H configuration that brought the Dawn spacecraft into orbit in 2007.
