PORSCHE 959

The Porsche 959 is a German sports car that was first presented to the public in 1985. Its serial production continued in 1986-1988 and 1992-1993, ending with the production of only 345 cars of this model. Production is concentrated in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany. The Porsche 959 was designed as a stylistically conservative, but technologically avant-garde sports car, which was supposed to complement the Porsche 911 range. The designer of the new car was Helmut Bott. In the "959", aluminum and Kevlar were used in the construction of the body on a large scale, which was very rare in the 1980s. The all-wheel drive design was also avant-garde, as was the technical solutions used in the engine supercharging system, thanks to which, with a capacity of only 2.8 liters, it was able to generate a maximum power of up to 450 HP! The same power unit, but improved, served as the drive of the racing car Porsche 962. At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the Porsche 959 was one of the best sports cars for the commercial market. It also had great performance - top speed reached 300 km / h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h was 3.6 seconds! The car was replaced in the Porsche offer by the Carrera GT model.
