During World War II, the US Army served a large number of various types of armored vehicles used for various tasks: from reconnaissance to transport. Of course, the US Army was saturated with this type of vehicles mainly after 1941, when the United States joined the next World War. The vehicles used for reconnaissance tasks include the wheeled M3 Scout Car, M8 Greyhound and M20 vehicles. Especially the last two turned out to be relatively successful. The number of types of armored transport vehicles was obviously greater, but the predominant ones were the large family of M3 and M5 half-tracked transporters. It is worth adding that all these vehicles were part of the infantry and armored divisions. In the former, they were "responsible" for a large number of mechanized support units (e.g. a repair company or a reconnaissance detachment), while in the armored division they were a very important supplement to tanks. For example, the position of the "light" armored division from 1943 assumed the possession of 54 M8 Greyhound vehicles, as many as 450 M3 halftracks or 30 M32 technical support vehicles.
