In 2017, approx. 86 thousand people served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland. soldiers, without taking into account the Territorial Defense Forces. Of those 86 thousand people as many as approx. 57 thousand. soldiers fall into the Land Forces, which are currently divided into 4 divisions: the 11th Armored Cavalry Division and the 12th, 16th and 18th Mechanized Division. With the exception of the 18th Division, each of the other divisions has a triple-brigade structure with support units in the form of artillery, anti-aircraft, sapper units, etc. In 2017, a Polish mechanized infantry brigade operating on infantry fighting vehicles (BWP in short) consisted of a command battalion, two mechanized battalions, a tank battalion, a squadron of self-propelled artillery and anti-aircraft artillery, a sapper battalion, a reconnaissance company and a logistics battalion. In the same 2017, the Rosomak armored personnel carrier brigade consisted of: a command battalion, three (not two!) Motorized infantry battalions and exactly the same support units as in the case of the IFV brigade. It is worth adding that the Polish mechanized infantry operates both on the modern KTO Rosomak vehicles and on the BWP-1 shells. Also, its self-propelled and anti-aircraft artillery units are most often based on types of weapons of Soviet origin (e.g. 2S1 Goździk). The basic shooting weapon is the assault rifle wz. 96 Beryl cal. 5.56 mm.
