Hf.2 Schwerer Heeresfeldwagen is a German military horse cart from the Second World War. The weight of the car was 800 kilograms, and its length (without the drawbar) was 4.25 meters. The truck could carry loads weighing up to 1,200 kilograms. Most often, one horse was harnessed to tow it. Despite the widespread opinion about the alleged excellent motorization and mechanization of the German armed forces during World War II, a large part of the transport of German troops from the beginning to the end of this conflict was carried out using horse-drawn carts. So exactly the same as in the previous world war! Horse carts played a significant role in the logistics of the German army and the transport of supplies. They were used primarily in infantry units, but also often in artillery units - to pull cannons or howitzers. One of the types of German horse carts from that period was the Hf.2 Schwerer Heeresfeldwagen, which was dedicated to the transport of heavy loads and supplemented the line with slightly heavier Hf.1 horse carts. Hf.2 horse carts were used on almost all fronts of World War II - from the campaign in Poland (1939) or France (1940), fighting on the Eastern Front, to the battles already fought in Germany in 1945.
