Units of type Gotland are modern Swedish AIP diesel-electric fighter submarines, which were launched in 1995-1996. A single ship of this type is 60.4 meters long and 6.2 meters wide, and has an underwater displacement of 1,600 tons. The maximum underwater speed is up to 20 knots. The armament consists of 4 533 mm torpedo tubes and 2 400 mm torpedo tubes. Units of type Gotland were developed for the needs of the Swedish Navy (hereinafter: MW) at Saab Kockums AB in the 1980s, in order to supplement and eventually replace the Näcken-class ships in the line. Compared to its predecessors, it has the same X-shaped aft tail, similar hull shape, but with many changes. First of all, it was very significantly lengthened, it received changed torpedo armament, and above all - the Goeland type units received the AIP (Air Independent Propulsion) type propulsion, which greatly increases the autonomy of these units, and at the same time has a fantastic effect on reducing their noise during underwater cruises. at low speed. Units of this class also show great maneuverability and very far-reaching automation of many processes. There is no doubt that Gotland-class submarines are very difficult to detect, have high combat value, and are perfectly suited for operation in the Baltic Sea.
