N350025 ULA CLASS SUBMARINE

Units of type Hive (Type 210) are Norwegian classically powered fighter submarines (diesel-electric), built in 1987-1992. A single ship of this type is 59 m long and 5.4 m wide, and the underwater displacement is approximately 1,150 tons. The maximum underwater speed is 22-23 knots. The armament consists of 8 533 mm torpedo tubes. Ula type submarines were developed for the needs of the Norwegian Navy (hereinafter: MW) in Germany, and their construction was the responsibility of the local shipyard Nordseewerke (NSWE) in Emden, with many components supplied by the Norwegian company Kongsberg. They entered service to replace Kobben-class units. Compared to their predecessors, they are clearly larger, show better underwater speed, and most of all - most likely - generate much less noise during underwater swimming. Ula-class ships are dedicated primarily to operating in the coastal zone and demonstrate good performance and considerable maneuverability. It is planned to replace them in the Norwegian MW with units of the 212CD type, and a contract in this matter was signed in 2021.
