The DFS Sperber Junior was a German performance glider from the interwar period and World War II. The length of this aircraft was approximately 6.5 meters with a wingspan of approximately 15.6 meters. The wing area of the glider was 16.2 m2. The flight of his prototype took place in 1936. The Sperber Junior glider was developed in-house Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Segelflug (abbreviated: DFS) by Hans Jacobs for Hanna Reitsch - one of the most recognizable German pilots of the Third Reich period. The presented glider was developed based on the model structure Rhönsperber, but compared to it received a much better shaped and contoured cockpit, reducing aerodynamic drag. Hanna Reitsch flew over the Alps in May 1937 on this particular glider. After this feat DFS Sperber Junior found its way to its manufacturer's warehouses, and was destroyed during World War II.
