Peugeot 206 is a French passenger car that was first presented to the public in 1998. Its serial production started in the same year and lasted until 2012. Over 10 million copies of this model were produced in the course of this year. In the course of serial production, the car was manufactured in several cities around the world, including: Mulhouse and Poissy in France, Wuhan in the PRC or Ryton in Great Britain. The 206 model was developed and put into production in order to replace the 205 model in the offer of the PSA concern (owner of the Peugeot brand). The main designers of the basic version of the new car were Gerard Welter and Murat Gunak. The main changes compared to the predecessor concerned the change of body style, especially in the front part of the car, and changes in the design of the passenger compartment. Peugeot 206 also received more modern power units - both gasoline and diesel - with a capacity of 1 to 2 liters. The car was offered in several body versions, as: 3- and 5-door hatchback, 4-door sedan or 5-door station wagon. A convertible version also appeared. The Peugeot 206 car turned out to be a huge market success and was the best-selling car in 2001-2003 in Europe. Peugeot 206 WRC successfully competed in racing and rallies as well.
