The first race in Formula 1 history was held in Great Britain on May 13, 1950, and the race itself was dominated by the Alfa Romeo team. One of the greatest F1 drivers of the 1950s was the Argentinian Juan Manuel Fangio, who won the world title in 1955, 1956 and 1957. This great driver triumphed in a total of 24 F1 races. In the early 1960s, the use of a rear-mounted engine proved to be a huge change, which the Cooper-Climax team did for the first time. Soon after, the shell-bodied cars introduced by Lotus appeared. On the other hand, at the turn of the 60s and 70s, it was the dominance of Jake Stewart, driving in the Tyrrell and Matra-Ford teams. The "Flying Scot" won the championship three times, in 1969, 1971 and 1973. In 1972 and 1974, Emmerson Fitipaldi triumphed, and he became the youngest world champion in Formula 1 history - he won this title when he was only 25 years old! In 1975 and 1977, however, Nikki Lauda triumphed, who returned to racing after a very serious accident at the track in Nürburgring. The 1980s brought with it huge changes in the design of the cars - engines with a power of 1000 HP, turbocharged, were started to be installed, but also carbon fibers were used in the construction of the cars. The turn of the 1980s and 1990s was undoubtedly a series of successes for Ayrton Senna, who won the championship in 1988, 1990 and 1991, and in the 1989 and 1993 seasons he became the world runner-up. Unfortunately, the career of this outstanding Brazilian driver, perhaps the best in the history of F1, was cut short by his tragic death in 1994, at the age of just 34. Following his tragic death, F1 introduced much stricter safety regulations. In the 90s of the twentieth century, the great talent of Michael Schumacher was already shining - the world champion from 1994 and 1995, who at the beginning of the 21st century added another five championship titles (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004) to these titles, becoming the most successful driver in F1 history. Another outstanding driver after Schumacher was Fernando Alonso - world champion 2005-2006 - and Lewis Hamilton, who won the championship (so far!) Five times in 2008, 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018.
