The Bofors 40 mm L / 60 anti-aircraft gun is an anti-aircraft gun by the Swedish company Bofors, constructed before the start of World War II. It was adopted by many countries around the world. Although the design is already 70 years old, this weapon is still in use. Throughout the production period, the gun was modernized many times and produced in various versions. The cannon was mounted on various land and sea bases as well as on land vehicles. It was produced in single, double and quadruple versions. The first Polish cannons of this type were purchased in Sweden as early as 1936. Then, the gun production in Poland was launched. The gun had good ballistic properties and was effective against air targets at altitudes of up to 3,000 m. In September 1939, the Polish Army had 350 cannons of this type.
