LOCKHEED C-5M SUPER GALAXY

The Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy is a modern American-made heavy transport aircraft. The first copies of this plane entered the line at the turn of the century. The machine is 75.31 meters long with a wingspan of 67.89 meters. The drive is provided by four General Electric CF6-80C2 turbofan engines with a thrust of 240 kN each. The maximum speed of the machine is 855 km / h, and its range is 9165 kilometers! Lockheed C-5M Super Galaxy was created as a far-reaching modernization of the C-5B and C-5C Galaxy machines. The first stage of modernization - initiated in 1998 - consisted in the replacement of avionics and the use, above all, of the most modern communication and navigation systems. The ergonomics of the pilot's cabin has also been improved. In the second modernization, the engines were changed to a completely new model (General Electric CF6-80C2) with pylons and housings that fastened them to the wings. The landing gear and many structural elements were also strengthened. Thanks to these changes, the C-5M, compared to the C-5B and C-5C aircraft, has a significantly greater range, better rate of climb and payload.
