CHINESE ZLC 2000 AIRBORNE FIGHTING VEHICLE

The ZLC 2000 (another designation: WZ 506) is a modern Chinese infantry fighting vehicle (IFV). The first prototypes of the vehicle were probably created in the late 1990s, and the car started entering the line in 2003. The ZLC 2000 is powered by a single engine Diesel power estimated at approx. 250-320 HP. The vehicle is armed with a 25mm cannon, an HJ-73C missile launcher and a single 7.62mm machine gun. Vehicle The ZLC 2000 was created for the needs of Chinese airborne units and in the overall concept it clearly resembles the Russian BMD-3 vehicle. Probably the ZLC 2000 was designed from scratch in domestic research centers, but with the use of Russian technologies. It is characterized by high strategic mobility, as it can be carried by IŁ-76MD transport planes. It also has amphibious abilities and - probably - high mobility in the field. It can be assumed that the designers in the ZLC 2000 focused primarily on maneuverability at the expense of armor. It is also difficult to clearly define the quality of observation devices or battlefield management systems. There is no doubt that the ZLC 2000 vehicle clearly enhances the capabilities of the Chinese airborne forces.
