The Combat Vehicle 90 (CV90) is a Swedish infantry fighting vehicle that is the staple of an entire family of military vehicles, including the CV9040. The vehicles of this series were created as a result of a competition announced by the Swedish army in the 1980s, which wanted to replace its aging Pbv-302 cars. Initially, the FV 101 Scorpion and Alvis Stormer were selected for the tests, but in the end they did not meet the needs of the Swedish army. Therefore, it was decided to create a completely new vehicle and the implementation of the task was undertaken by Hägglunds and Bofors. Combat tests were carried out in 1989-1991, and the car entered service in 1993. The basic armor of all versions is metal armor capable of withstanding the fire of weapons with a caliber of up to 14.5 mm. However, the CV9030N version has MEXAS ceramic armor that protects it against shells up to 30mm. The entire vehicle family, including the CV-9040, is powered by a Saab-Scania DS14 diesel engine. Technical data: weight 35-40 t, engine power: 554 HP, speed: 69 km / h, armament: a single 40 mm L / 70 cannon and 1 Ksp 39C 7.62 mm machine gun.
