The Selbstfahrlafette auf Fahrgestell VOMAG 7 mit 8.8cm Flak was a German self-propelled anti-aircraft gun from the Second World War. The length of the vehicle was 10.3 meters and its weight was 7.75 tons. The drive was provided by a single engine VOMAG 6R 3080 with 150 hp. The maximum speed of the vehicle on the road reached 90 km / h. The armament consisted of a single 88 mm FlaK 18 or FlaK 36 anti-aircraft gun. The Selbstfahrlafette auf Fahrgestell VOMAG 7 mit 8.8cm Flak vehicle was developed as a heavy self-propelled anti-aircraft gun, which was originally intended to be used as a cover for road convoys in which Adolf Hitler would move. Work on the new cannon began in 1940. In order to shorten the research and development time as well as to reduce costs, many elements were used from already produced buses and trucks from VOMAG. The first vehicles of this type were put into service in 1941 - a total of about 20 vehicles of this type were built. All of them were part of the 1st Battalion of the 42nd Anti-Aircraft Regiment. In the period 1942-1944, this unit operated mainly on the Eastern Front, and in 1944 it operated in Romania. Almost all of the Selbstfahrlafette auf Fahrgestell VOMAG 7 mit 8.8cm Flak cars were destroyed during the fighting in this country. Only a few of them made it to Hungary. None of the cars survived the war.
