The BTR-3 is a modern Ukrainian wheeled infantry fighting vehicle. The vehicle is powered by a single engine Deutz BF6M1015 326 hp . The vehicle prototypes were created in 2000, and serial production started in 2001 and is still ongoing. It is armed with a single 30mm KBA-3 automatic cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, a 30mm AGS-17 automatic grenade launcher and two Kornet anti-tank guided missile launchers. The BTR-3 was created as a grassroots initiative of ChKBM (Malyshev Factory) based in Kharkiv, which wanted to gain export markets with the new construction. The vehicle is a far-reaching modification of the BTR-80 transporter. Compared to the original, it differs primarily in a completely new engine, drive train and significantly reinforced weapons. The BTR-3 is also able to carry up to 6 landing soldiers with full equipment, providing them with cover against small-caliber fire and artillery fragments. The cart is also capable of negotiating water obstacles. Based on the BTR-3, several specialized versions were created, such as: BTR-3E 90 (fire support vehicle with a 90 mm cannon) or BTR-3E ARV (evacuation and technical protection vehicle). In 2017, the BTR-3DA version was also delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces. The BTR-3 vehicle enjoys considerable interest from foreign customers and was bought, among others, by Chad, Ecuador, Mjanmar or the UAE
