DELTA FORCE

Delta Force[pełna angielska nazwa to: 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (Airborne)] is an elite special unit of the United States Armed Forces created in 1977 by Colonel Charles Beckwith. At the time, the molding plant was clearly modeled on the British SAS (Special Air Service) unit. The Delta Force mainly accepts former commandos from other special forces units (eg "green berets" or rangers) and soldiers from the 82nd or 101st Airborne Division. However, soldiers from regular units of the US armed forces can also participate in the recruitment process. The unit is trained primarily to operate in extremely unfavorable conditions, with particular emphasis on anti-terrorist actions and hostage rescue. The exact number of Delta Force is unknown, but it is assumed that it numbers about 1000 people, of which 250-300 soldiers are active operators. From its inception to the present, Delta Force receives the highest quality equipment and weapons, often made only for their needs, or is the first to test new types of weapons. It is considered to be the best equipped and one of the best special units in the world. It took part in the unsuccessful hostage rescue attempt in Tehran in 1980 (Operation Eagles' Talon), operations against the Taliban in Afghanistan in 2001-2004, or in the covert operations related to both Gulf Wars (1990-1991 and 2003).
